Jake Paul’s walk to the ring Friday night in Miami was loud and theatrical. Millions tuned in on Netflix expecting spectacle ahead of his heavyweight clash with Anthony Joshua. To everyone’s surprise, the presence of controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine walking alongside Paul, turned the buildup into a fresh criticism.As Paul made his entrance at the Kaseya Center, Daniel Hernandez, known globally as Tekashi 6ix9ine, stood beside him in full view of the crowd. Fans raised questions after the surprise as the rapper was recently sentenced to 3 months in prison. Hernandez is set to return to prison in January.
Tekashi 6ix9ine legal troubles resurface during Jake Paul ringwalk
Tekashi 6ix9ine’s appearance came weeks after he was sentenced to an additional three months in prison for violating the terms of his supervised release.
The violations included drug possession and assault, offenses Hernandez admitted to during a federal court hearing in Manhattan. Judge Paul Engelmayer addressed the pattern saying, “From time to time your actions suggest that you believe that ordinary rules don’t apply to you.
”
Hernandez, who has been on probation since 2020 following his cooperation against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, is scheduled to report back to prison on January 6.
His recent legal issues also include a March raid on his Florida mansion where firearms and drugs were seized. Despite those restrictions, Hernandez appeared ringside wearing an ankle monitor.During the same court hearing, Hernandez described the fallout of his cooperation with authorities. “Unknown individuals left a coffin in front of my house with an animal in it to send me a message,” he said. “Three masked gunmen held my mom at gunpoint.”

Inside the arena, the ringwalk spectacle contrasted with the later events. Anthony Joshua dismantled Paul over six rounds, scoring four knockdowns before ending the fight by knockout. Paul finished the bout bloodied but conscious.The decision to feature Tekashi 6ix9ine alongside Paul drew criticism from fans who felt the moment distracted from the sport itself. Hernandez’s past includes arrests in the Dominican Republic and the United States, along with earlier accusations tied to gang activity.
