Former WWE superstar Sable left the company at the peak of her success.WWE had seen only a handful of female talent who were able to make a significant impact during the Attitude Era. One top name was Sable.
While today she lives a quiet life with her husband, Brock Lesnar, she was out there completely during her prime as a WWE superstar.
However, at the height of her roaring success, Sable abruptly walked out of the company. Years later, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross shed light on the entire situation.
Why did Sable leave WWE during the Attitude Era?
In a recent with Inside The Ropes, Jim Ross spoke about Sable's departure back in the 1990s. He stated that her main intention was to earn a lot of money.
She was doing that from opportunities apart from her WWE superstar deal, like Playboy covers and merchandise.Ross said, “I had to have several talks with her. Look, at the end of the day, all Sable wanted to do was to make money. And she had an opportunity—through the Playboy covers, and merchandise—being exposed but not overexposed on our TV. Perfect job for her. Perfect game for her.”Once Sable tasted major success, her interest in wrestling inside the squared circle began to diminish.
Moreover, Ross also revealed that Sable never actually wanted to become a wrestler, despite the incredible in-ring acumen and feats of strength she displayed on numerous occasions.“She wrestles a little bit, yeah. And then when she gets really popular, she doesn’t want to wrestle anymore. That’s kind of a kick in the balls. But she never was a wrestler. She didn’t like being a wrestler. And to her credit, she became a decent hand. She could take bumps. She could execute a few holds,” added the WWE Hall of Famer.
Jim Ross SHOOTS On Why Sable REALLY Left WWE!
Sable left WWE in 1999 and filed a $110 million lawsuit against WWE, citing unsafe working conditions and harassment that same year. She returned for a brief run to WWE in 2003. Moreover, she has been recently spotted with Brock Lesnar at public gatherings. While she has been gone from the ring for many years, Sable will always remain one of the most glamorous and popular WWE superstars of all time. Also read: 'That’s where this is going': Dave Meltzer doesn't hold back on the future of WWE
