A chilling mystery has gripped Jyotinagar in New Town, North 24 Parganas, after a local woman began waking up to an unsettling sight outside her home. For the past five days, Biva Basak has discovered a disturbing scene at her main gate each morning, leaving residents shocked and authorities puzzled.
Early one morning, she discovered a doll made of red cloth with symbolic blood, hanging on her door. The doll bore the ominous message “Everything is over" on a stick, surrounded by soil, stick prints, and various flowers.
Struck by fear and anxiety, Biva Basak broke down in tears, worried about potential harm. The unsettling incident prompted local residents to inform the New Town police station. Police officers quickly arrived to investigate the scene.
Tarun Mukherjee, a member of the state council of the West Bengal Vigyan Manch, dismissed the incident as a misguided attempt to invoke fear. He explained that such actions are often believed to achieve certain goals, but they hold no real power or effect.
Mukherjee emphasised that acts like placing a trident or safety pin on a doll are purely illogical and only serve to induce panic and mental distress in the affected household.
