The Indian Red Cross Society has been playing a vital role in providing relief during disasters and emergencies, promoting healthcare, offering first aid training and assisting the weaker sections of society, district secretary of the society Ravindra Shahabadi has said.
He was speaking at a blood donation camp organised by the district branch of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) in collaboration with the Government First Grade College, Farhatabad, on the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on Wednesday.
Mr. Shahabadi said that the Red Cross stands on the core principles of humanity, voluntary service and unity. He called upon students to imbibe these values in their lives and contribute to building a healthy society.
Presiding over the programme, principal of the college Indumati Patil said that the Red Cross inspires the youth to uphold humanitarian values and participate actively in voluntary service.
Red Cross members, including Arun Kumar Loya, Kalyan Kumar Sheelavant, Sandhya Raj, Syed Sanavulla, spoke on the occasion.
As many as 21 students and senior faculty members of the college donated their blood during the camp.
