Popular social media platform Reddit is experiencing a major outage starting September 16 evening. The outage has affected thousands of users and they are unable to access the website.

Users report of ‘Internal Server Error’ and messages flooded around 5:30 p.m. EDT, with outage tracking site DownDetector logging over 21,000 incidents within minutes.As per multiple online reports, the disruption appeared to stem from server-related issues, possibly due to overload or internal configuration failures. Users attempting to browse Reddit were greeted with blank pages or error messages which is sparking frustration across social media.As per DownDetector, around 55% users are not able to access the app, while 34% users are having trouble with the website and 12% are experiencing server connectivity issue.Reddit also experienced an outage that prevented users from accessing the platform on both mobile and PC. Reddit acknowledged the issue, attributing it to a bug in a recent update. Reddit was back online after a global outage hours later.“I just noticed that Reddit was down, so I checked http://downdetector.com to verify. It shows service outages based on user reports, along with a map of where reports are coming from. When the outage is widespread, it also shows where active users are concentrated,” Reddit shared a post on X.
