Vizianagaram Powra Vedika president Bhisetti Babji on Saturday (August 23, 2025) urged the government to renovate poet and writer Gurajada Apparao’s house located adjacent to the Vizianagaram fort.

Mr. Babji along with Gurajada’s great grandson Gurajada Venkateswara Prasad and his wife G. Indira launched a postcard movement here to step up pressure on the government for demands including renovation of the 150-year-old house, construction of an auditorium in the adjacent vacant land and digitisation of Gurajada’s literary works.

Mr. Babji was hopeful that the postcard movement would draw the attention of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to the issue. Several writers including Cheekati Diwakar, Eepu Vijaya Kumar, Jakku Ramakrishna, Mullapudi Subhadra, Gullapalli Jayapal and others extended solidarity to the movement. They said that protection of Gurajada’s memorial building was the need of the hour as many rooms were in a dilapidated condition.
