Iran’s state-run broadcaster, Islamic Republic of Iran News Network, has indicated that ongoing diplomatic efforts could still collapse if Tehran’s preconditions are not addressed. According to a correspondent reporting from Islamabad on Saturday, Iranian officials are maintaining a firm position that any negotiations must fully respect the country’s “interests, demands and red lines," warning that failure to do so may lead cancellation of the peace talks.
The correspondent noted that Iranian authorities may frame such a withdrawal not as a setback but as a reflection of what they describe as “assertive diplomacy." This stance highlights Tehran’s effort to project strength and control over the direction of talks, even as international pressure mounts for de-escalation.
US Vice President J D Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf arrived in Pakistan on Saturday to hold high-stakes peace talks. As the current situation has triggered a global economic disruption, entire international community is looking forward to these peace talks.
According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency, Iranian and American delegations are set to hold individual meetings with Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif before any potential negotiations begins.
Iran’s media coverage has consistently emphasized Iran’s conditions for dialogue, alongside a deep mistrust of the United States.
