Naomi opened Night 2 of SummerSlam 2025 with a bang, defending her Women’s World Championship in a high-stakes Triple Threat Match against Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY. It was a chaotic and high-octane affair with plenty of bad blood, but in the end, it was Naomi who left MetLife Stadium with gold still around her waist.

It was definitely a fitting champion’s entrance.From the opening bell, the tension in the ring was top-notch. Ripley and SKY briefly aligned, only to unravel when Ripley accidentally clocked SKY, allowing Naomi to shift momentum. Later, a highlight reel of counters, aerial assaults, and near-falls followed. Naomi hit a Split-Legged Moonsault. SKY flew off the ropes with a slingshot senton. Ripley unleashed raw power, delivering a Razor’s Edge and a top-rope Avalanche Riptide.

Ripley nearly had the win, not once, but twice. But just like at WWE Evolution, Naomi waited for the perfect moment. After Ripley flattened SKY with the Avalanche Riptide and went for the cover, Naomi rolled in, grabbed Ripley’s tights, and secured the pin. The crowd gasped. The referee's hand hit the mat for three. Naomi retained, again, by snatching victory out of Ripley’s grasp at the last second.

It’s the second time Naomi has outmaneuvered Ripley when the title was within reach.

Back at Evolution, Naomi cashed in her Money in the Bank contract just as Ripley was about to pin SKY. Now, history repeated itself at SummerSlam. And it stung even more this time. Ripley’s reaction after the match revealed that she was in shock after facing the devastating defeat.
