On February 24, 2024, former NFL cornerback Richard Sherman was arrested for DUI in Seattle, as per the records of King County District Court. Back then, a Washington State Patrol officer had pulled him over after he allegedly drove a Tesla at a speed of 79 miles per hour in a 60 miles per hour zone and veered in its lane on Interstate 405 in Renton.
The officer observed that Sherman’s eyes were bloodshot and watery. He noticed an odor of intoxicants coming from Sherman’s breath. Sherman had refused a breath test at the scene and at the WSP office. He was then taken to a hospital for a blood draw. The test result of the same blood draw came after 16 months.
Retired NFL cornerback Richard Sherman had a blood alcohol level of 0.11 the night of the incident, above the state’s legal limit of 0.08
On June 18, 2025, Gabe Katzman of KOMO News reported that Sherman was arrested for the DUI in the early morning of February 24, 2024.
But charging documents were not filed until the KCPAO received blood test results from the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab on Tuesday. KCPAO Director of Communications Casey McNerthney shared with Katzman, “It is not uncommon for blood test results to take months to return from the State Patrol Crime Lab regardless of the misdemeanor DUI defendant.”
On June 18, 2025, Brady Henderson of ESPN reported that the gross misdemeanor charge was filed against former Seattle Seahawks cornernack Richard Sherman one day after the KCPAO received the blood test results from the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab.
Sherman registered a blood alcohol level of around 0.11, above the state’s legal limit of 0.08. He is scheduled to be arraigned June 30, 2025.
What’s surprising is that this comes after Richard Sherman’s recent encounter with a home burglary at gunpoint
On March 31, 2025, Richard Sherman took to his X and posted a video clip with images of the people who robbed his house. He captioned the X post: House being robbed at gun point with my family in it isn’t what anyone wants for a birthday gift. Scary situation that my Wife handled masterfully and kept my kids safe.
If anyone has any info that can help find these people please reach out.
