Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and NDA ally N Chandrababu Naidu has said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 12 years in office have marked a period of renewed national confidence, stronger governance and economic transformation. In an opinion article published in The Indian Express, Naidu described June 10, 2026, as a significant milestone, marking 4,399 consecutive days of Modi’s prime ministership.
He said the achievement reflected the trust placed by millions of Indians in a governance model centred on the principle of “Nation First".
Having spent nearly five decades in public life and worked with several prime ministers, Naidu wrote that Modi stands apart because he has successfully combined civilisational confidence with modern governance.
“In my nearly five decades in public life, I have had the opportunity to observe and interact with several prime ministers, each of whom led India through distinct challenges and circumstances. But PM Modi stands apart because he has combined civilisational confidence with modern governance," he writes.
‘India has rediscovered its self-belief’
Naidu argued that India had once been among the world’s most prosperous and advanced civilisations but had spent many decades after Independence uncertain about its identity and global role.
According to him, PM Modi’s leadership has helped India rediscover its cultural pride and national self-confidence. He said India now engages with the world with greater confidence and strategic relevance, interacting with major global powers as an equal while remaining guided by the principle of India First.
“Under PM Modi’s leadership, India has rediscovered its cultural pride and national self-belief. India today stands with far greater confidence and strategic relevance in the global order. PM Modi has ensured that India engages with the world as an equal among major powers, always guided by the principle of India First," said Naidu.
CM Naidu also highlighted what he described as Modi’s ability to blend India’s ancient traditions with modern development.
He pointed to yoga, pranayama, meditation and spiritual traditions being integrated with technology, digital governance and innovation-led growth. The global recognition of International Day of Yoga was cited as an example of India’s traditional knowledge gaining worldwide acceptance.
Digital transformation and economic growth under PM Modi
Naidu noted that India has moved from being the world’s 11th-largest economy to the fourth-largest economy within a decade under PM Modi. He said the defining feature of the past 12 years has been governance driven by conviction and effective implementation.
According to him, Digital Public Infrastructure, Jan Dhan accounts, Aadhaar integration, UPI and Direct Benefit Transfers have created one of the largest financial inclusion exercises in history. He stated that more than Rs 51 lakh crore has been transferred directly to beneficiaries, reducing leakages and eliminating middlemen.
CM Naidu said India had bridged the economic divide by first bridging the digital divide.
Social change and infrastructure push
The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister also pointed to what he described as large-scale social transformation. He said hundreds of millions of people had been lifted out of multidimensional poverty, while investments in housing, sanitation, healthcare, drinking water and rural infrastructure had improved living standards.
According to Naidu, the guiding principle throughout this period has been “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas".
He noted that despite challenges such as the pandemic, supply-chain disruptions, geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty, India had remained resilient and among the fastest-growing major economies.
CM Naidu also praised investments in highways, ports, airports, freight corridors, railways, renewable energy, manufacturing and emerging technologies. He described these as long-term nation-building measures rather than decisions aimed at immediate political gains.
Federalism and Andhra’s growth under PM Modi
Naidu said another major change had been the strengthening of competitive and cooperative federalism.
According to him, states are now increasingly treated as engines of national development rather than simply administrative units. He said Andhra Pradesh had benefited from this partnership through projects related to infrastructure, industrialisation, Amaravati and emerging technologies.
“An important transformation has been in the relationship between the Union and the states. Competitive and cooperative federalism has given states greater space to innovate, compete and grow. States are increasingly being treated as engines of national development rather than mere administrative units. Andhra Pradesh has greatly benefited from this development-oriented partnership," Naidu added.
‘Beginning of a golden era’
Naidu reiterated his long-held belief that Modi was the right leader at the right time for India. He wrote that history would remember this period not only for economic growth and political stability but also for restoring India’s confidence in itself.
Calling it India’s defining moment, Naidu said the country was entering a golden era and expressed confidence that India would steadily move towards the goal of becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
“I have often said that Narendra Modi was the right leader at the right time for India. After 12 years, that conviction has only strengthened further. History will remember this period not merely for economic growth or political stability, but for something deeper — the restoration of India’s confidence in itself. I believe this is India’s defining moment; the beginning of a golden era for our nation," Naidu concluded.
