The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Friday announced the team for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy with Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma and Navdeep Saini all confirmed to be a part of the tournament. The tournament will start December 24 in Bengaluru. However, the aforementioned 4 cricketers weren’t in the squad for the first 2 matches.
“The Committee finalised the Delhi Senior Men’s Team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy for the 2025–26 domestic season. The tournament is scheduled to commence on 24th December 2025 in Bengaluru. Mr. Rishabh Pant, Mr. Virat Kohli, Mr. Ishant Sharma, and Mr. Navdeep Saini have confirmed their availability and will be part of the team. Mr. Rishabh Pant is appointed as the captain of the team. Mr. Harshit Rana shall join the squad as and when he becomes available,” DDCA said in a press release on Friday.
Earlier this month, Kohli had informed the DDCA that he will be available for selection for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, India’s domestic one-day tournament. “Virat Kohli has confirmed to the DDCA today that he will play the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Though he has nothing to prove it shows that he still retains passion for the game. His recent hundred against South Africa shows he is still one of the best players in the world. Him playing the domestic tournament will be a motivation for the youngsters,” DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma had told The Indian Express last week. Delhi begin their Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign against Andhra Pradesh in Alur on December 24.

Rohit, Jaiswal to miss initial Vijay Hazare games as Mumbai try youngsters
Prominent India players such as Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Suryakumar Yadav will not compete in at least the first two matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy as the selectors are keen to blood youngsters in the Mumbai side. Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube will also miss the initial games.’
“Rohit, Jaiswal, Dube and even Rahane will not be a part of the Mumbai squad for at least first two matches as the selection panel is going ahead with a young squad,” Mumbai chief selector Sanjay Patil told PTI. “Yashasvi is undergoing treatment for a stomach issue and he should be alright soon. We thought that the youngsters should be given a chance. But whenever they will be available, they will be accommodated,” he said. “But for the first two matches we are experimenting with youngsters,” Patil added.
