Two men on a motorcycle allegedly fired at a youth near the residences of Janata Dal (United) Minister Ashok Choudhary and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav on Polo Road early Thursday morning in what police claim was a robbery attempt.
The Polo Road area, which comes under the jurisdiction of the Airport police station, is considered one of the most secure neighbourhoods in Patna, housing several ministers, judges, and senior officials.
According to the police, the attackers attempted to rob Rahul, a driver who worked for a doctor, while he was on his way to work around 8:15 am. The victim escaped unhurt and the assailants took Rs 400 in cash, “but left his phone and other belongings untouched”, Patna City (Central) SP Diksha said.
“Two men on a bike stopped the victim, who was also on the motorcycle, and robbed him at gunpoint. A shot was also fired, but no one was injured…Police have recovered a bullet shell from the spot and are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspects. Raids are ongoing to capture them,” Patna City (Central) SP Diksha said.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav reacted sharply to the incident. In a post on X, he said: “Today, firing has taken place outside my residence. In the demon-rule of the NDA, the morale of state-protected criminals has risen so high that dangerous criminals are roaming openly in high-security zones – just a short distance from the Raj Bhavan, Chief Minister’s residence, Leader of Opposition’s residence, judges’ residences, and the airport – where they are firing in public”.

He added: “Beware! If anyone dares to call this ‘jungle raj’? Anyway, the Prime Minister is visiting Bihar tomorrow, so the ‘godi media’ (lapdog media) will obviously focus on maintaining a positive image”.
