Robert Lewandowski, 37, may retire as Barcelona are unlikely to extend his contract. As per reports, he could possibly join Atletico Madrid or stay as a mentor in Barcelona.

Robert Lewandowski has admitted that retirement is a genuine option for the first time in his illustrious career, as uncertainty grows over whether he will remain at Barcelona beyond this season.
The 37-year-old Polish striker, whose contract expires next summer, said he has not yet made a decision on his future and will assess things “based on how I feel at the end of the season."
Reports from Catalonia suggest Barcelona have no plans to extend his deal, viewing this season as the natural end of his time at Camp Nou. However, Lewandowski reminded everyone of his enduring class last weekend, netting a hat-trick in a 4–2 victory over Celta Vigo, a performance that briefly silenced talk of his decline.
Despite his reduced role this campaign, Lewandowski remains keen to stay in Barcelona, even if it means accepting fewer minutes and playing a supporting role next season. He is said to believe he can still contribute meaningfully, particularly as a mentor for younger forwards.
Unlike many veterans in the twilight of their careers, Lewandowski reportedly has little interest in lucrative moves to Major League Soccer or Saudi Arabia. His family is settled in Castelldefels, near Barcelona, and he is reluctant to uproot them unless an equally compelling sporting project arises.
If Barcelona opt not to renew his deal, retirement becomes a real possibility — a scenario Lewandowski has never previously entertained. A move elsewhere in Europe is not completely ruled out, but only if it allows him to compete at a high level without disrupting his family life.
Interestingly, Atletico Madrid could emerge as a potential destination, offering Lewandowski both elite competition and the chance to remain in Spain.
For now, though, Lewandowski’s focus is on the present — helping Barcelona through a transitional season and proving that, even at 37, he can still deliver when it matters most.
