Robotic knee replacement surgery adds a tinge of precision into the entire surgical process, which goes a long way in relieving pain in the patient during the recovery process, said noted orthopaedic surgeon Dr. C. Vidya Sagar Reddy.
Dr. Reddy, who is the chief robotic joint replacement surgeon at Vidya Sagar Hospital, addressed the media here on Sunday after the hospital achieved the milestone of performing 500 robotic knee replacement surgeries. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the hospital had in the past 15 years performed 7,500 knee replacement surgeries. He attributed the superior patient outcome to the integration of the State-of-the-art CORI robotic systems with the expertise of experienced team of surgeons.
Claimed to be the first to introduce robotic technology for joint care in the Rayalaseema region, he said the technology allowed the surgeon to offer ‘personalised’ surgical experience with unmatched accuracy and safety in matching an implant to the patient’s anatomy. Dr. Reddy said that robotic surgery enabled 100 per cent precision, reduced blood and tissue loss, preservation of natural ligaments, minimal pain and shorter hospital stays.
