Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray visited Matoshree on Saturday to meet Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on the occasion of his birthday. This is the first time in around 12 to 13 years that Raj Thackeray has visited Matoshree voluntarily.

The last time he visited Matoshree was when Balasaheb Thackeray was unwell. Since then, Raj Thackeray has only gone there on very few and specific occasions.

This visit comes just days after both leaders appeared together at a Marathi cultural event. The meeting is being seen as a possible sign of improving ties between the Thackeray cousins.

After parting ways with Shiv Sena and forming his own party, visits to Matoshree have been rare.
