A Railway Protection Force (RPF) head constable was allegedly beaten and bitten by a railway employee at the Kannur railway station in Kerala on Monday night.
According to the police, constable P. Saseendran was assaulted on a railway platform around 11.45 p.m when Varam native Dinesh, a temporary employee of the railways, turned violent after being questioned for sleeping on the platform during duty hours.
As per the FIR, the accused verbally abused the constable using obscene language in front of the ladies’ restroom, grabbed him by the collar of his uniform, restrained him, assaulted him, and beat him, causing injuries. The accused also allegedly damaged the officer’s body-worn camera worth around ₹15,000 which was used for official duty and obstructed him in the discharge of his responsibilities.
The RPF has registered a case in connection with the incident.
