Rs 6.2cr Yaba tablets seized in Cachar, two arrested

Silchar: Cachar police seized 20,000 Yaba tablets, valued around Rs 6.2 crore, from two peddlers during an operation under Kachudaram police station on Wednesday night.Acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted an SUV at Dakshin Mohanpur and apprehended two suspects — Ibrahim Hussain Mazumder (30) and Mokbul Hussain Mazumder (26), both from Bidrohipar.During the search, police recovered the contraband tablets, two iPhones and a scooty from their possession. The drug detection kit confirmed the presence of amphetamine in the seized substances.Briefing the media on Thursday, SP (Cachar) Partha Pratim Das said the seized consignment was worth Rs 6.2 crore in the black market. “Preliminary investigation suggests the consignment was brought from Mizoram and has links with Myanmar,” he added.
