RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat casts vote in NMC polls, urges voters to choose ‘available best’

NAGPUR: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat cast his vote in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation elections on Thursday, underlining the importance of responsible voting in a democracy.

Bhagwat voted at the Nagpur Night High School polling station in Mahal.

Former RSS Sarkaryavah and executive member Bhaiyyaji Joshi accompanied him.Bhagwat and Joshi were among the first voters to arrive at the polling booth. Speaking to the media after voting, Bhagwat said participation in elections is not only a right but also a fundamental duty of every citizen. “In a democratic structure, voting is extremely important.

One must vote after considering public interest and choose the candidate who appears most suitable,” he said.Commenting on the use of NOTA, Bhagwat remarked that rejecting all candidates does not serve democracy. “NOTA means rejecting everyone, but in reality, voters should select the available best option. Anarchy is a situation where there is no ruler, and that is the worst possible condition. Even the Mahabharata speaks about this,” he said.He added that excessive use of NOTA indirectly benefits undesirable elements. “When we opt for NOTA, we often end up helping those we do not want,” Bhagwat cautioned, urging voters to make informed and responsible choices.
