Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has underscored the importance of ‘gopuja’ in the Hindu system of worship.

Mr. Bhagwat visited the ‘Saptha Gopradakshinasala’, the facility built by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) at Alipiri, the foot of Tirumala hills, on Thursday.

It was established to promote the culture of offering prayers to seven cows before embarking on a holy trek to the seven hills, the abode of Lord Venkateswara.

TTD Trust Board’s former member A.J. Sekhar, who contributed around ₹13 crore to build the massive facility and donated the same to the TTD, accompanied Mr. Bhagwat.

Mr. Sekhar recalled that the centre had started witnessing impressive footfall right from the day one, and was being thronged by devotees going by foot as well as those taking the ghat road.

Mr. Bhagwat also learnt about the Srinivasa Divyanugraha Homam performed here on a daily basis for global well-being, in which devotees voluntarily participate in large numbers.
