Rugby Premier League: Kalinga Black Tigers, Hyderabad Heroes Dominate

The Kalinga Black Tigers defeated the Mumbai Dreamers 33-5, and the Hyderabad Heroes triumphed over the Chennai Bulls 17-0 in the Rugby Premier League.

The Kaligna Black Tigers and the Hyderabad Heroes delivered impressive performances during Season 1 of the Rugby Premier League at the Shahaji Raje Bhosale Sports Complex (Andheri Sports Complex) on Tuesday evening.

The Tigers overcame the Mumbai Dreamers, while the Hyderabad Heroes triumphed over the Chennai Bulls. Notably, both the Heroes and the Bulls had already secured their spots in the knockouts on Monday.

In the day’s first match, the Kalinga Black Tigers showcased a commanding performance against the Mumbai Dreamers, winning decisively with a score of 33-5.

The Tigers began strongly, holding off the Dreamers, and just before the first quarter ended, Perry Baker scored a well-executed try, which Maurice Longbottom easily converted. Shortly after, the Tigers extended their lead with another try from Baker, and Ethan Turner successfully converted. By half-time, the Kalinga Black Tigers were ahead 14-0.

After the break, the Tigers continued their dominance as Ethan Turner added a try to his tally. The Dreamers managed to score when Elias Hancock crossed the line, but any hopes they had of a comeback were dashed by the Tigers. Lucas Lacamp scored two quick tries, and Longbottom effortlessly completed the conversions.

In the second match, the Hyderabad Heroes and the Chennai Bulls played an exciting game, with the Heroes emerging victorious. The Heroes won 17-0, marking only the second instance in the tournament where a team failed to score.

The Hyderabad Heroes started the game well, with Kevin Wekesa and Terio Tamani scoring crucial tries in the first half. Tamani also converted his kick, giving the Heroes a comfortable 12-point lead. Bhupinder Singh sealed the victory with a try in the final moments of the game.
