Comedian, actor and ex husband of Pop Star Katy Perry, Russell Brand, has bashed her relationship with former Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau- calling the later 'a globalist stooge' during a Turning Point USA gathering in Phoenix.Russell talked about his relationship with Katy Perry and what he thinks of her relationships, while talking to a conservative audience for the group founded by the assassinated political speaker Charlie Kirk. Brand linked politics to the conversation around Perry’s new romance with the 53-year-old left-leaning politician.The Get Him to the Greek Star said, "Look, Katy Perry, I was married to her. I love her still, and I'm glad that her mom's in the room to hear me say this - but look."Brand then goes on to say that he is quite put off by Katy's relationship with Trudeau. And this is a first since he was okay with her past romance with Orlansdo Bloom. 'I was okay with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau?' Brand said. 'Come on, man! Don't put me in a category with that guy.That globalist stooge.'Trudeau, 53, served as Canada's Prime Minister from 2015 to 2025. He was first seen with Katy Perry in late July dining at the Montreal restaurant Le Violon.
Before dating each other, katy Perry was in a long relationship with Orlando Bloom, with whom she also shares a daughter(5). While on the other hand, Trudeau and his ex-wife Sophie Grégoire split in 2023; they are also parents to daughter Ella-Grace Margaret Trudeau, 16.Perry and Trudeau had very recently made their relationship public following months of speculations and public sightings. It was Trudeau who on December 4, reposted a picture of himself and his lady love as they took a picture with former Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida and his wife Yuko Kishida.

Katy Perry met her ex husband for the first time in 20028 while filming a cameo for Get Him to the Greek. While the scene was cut from the film, they were all too happy with each other. The duo announced their engagement in January 2010 after just four months of dating and tied the knot during a Hindu ceremony in India in October of that year. However, their relationship ended just as quickly as it had begun.Brand was the one who declared in December 2011 that he and Perry had decided to end their marriage after just over one year of marriage.
In July 2012, Brand explained to Howard Stern that while he “loved [Perry] so much,” he ultimately realized that their relationship just wasn’t working.Russell also said that they were at different stages at life. While, Russell Brand had a really bad year as he ha been charged in England with five counts of assault and rape based off accusations from four women. Brand was first accused of sexual assault more than two years ago, in September 2023, when five women made allegations about his behaviour in a joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4’s Dispatches.He has said he “absolutely refutes” all the claims and is scheduled to stand trial in June 2026.
