A 15-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly fatally stabbing a 10-year-old child and injuring a security guard in a knife attack at a school in Moscow. The teenager, identified by investigators as Timothy K, has been detained and the motive behind the attack is still being investigated.

The incident took place in Gorki-2, a village west of Moscow in the Odintsovo district. According to officials, the attacker entered the school premises armed with a knife, triggering panic among students and staff.

Body camera footage of the incident, now circulating widely on social media, showed the assailant interacting briefly with a teacher, asking her about her nationality. Moments later, he encountered a security guard, identified as 32-year-old Dmitry Pavlov. In the video, the teenager is heard telling the guard to leave before deploying pepper spray and stabbing him in the back when the guard did not retreat.

The footage further showed the attacker, wearing a mask and helmet, chasing a 10-year-old boy inside the building and fatally stabbing him. Russian media reported that the teenager later took a selfie with the child’s body. The video also captured teachers and students barricading themselves inside classrooms in an attempt to protect themselves from further harm.

Security forces, including armed SWAT officers, were deployed to the school and brought the situation under control. The injured security guard was taken to hospital for treatment.

In 2024, a teenage student wounded four people with a hammer in the city of Chelyabinsk. In December 2023, a 14-year-old girl opened fire at a school in Bryansk, killing a classmate before taking her own life.
