Sachin Shroff, Kashmera Shah and others mourn the demise of veteran actor Govardhan Asrani

Veteran Bollywood actor Govardhan Asrani, known professionally as Asrani, passed away in Mumbai on October 20, 2025, at the age of 84. According to reports, Asrani had been admitted to Arogya Nidhi Hospital in Juhu for breathing problems and died around 3 p.m.

His funeral took place the same evening at the Santacruz crematorium in Mumbai.Asrani was born on January 1, 1941, in Jaipur, Rajasthan. He studied acting at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, and appeared in more than 300 films during his career. He was widely known for his role as the jailer in the 1975 film Sholay and for his work in Hindi cinema over six decades.After the news of his death, several actors and filmmakers expressed condolences on social media.

Akshay Kumar, Anees Bazmee, Johnny Lever, and Rajpal Yadav were among those who paid tribute.
