KOLHAPUR: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi posted a message on ‘X’ stating that the death of a doctor with the Phaltan sub district hospital in Satara district, exposes the Maharashtra BJP-led govt’s ‘inhuman and insensitive’ face.Gandhi said the death is ‘not a suicide but an institutional murder and a shameful example of crime by power-protected ideology’.“A person who was entrusted with the responsibility of protecting people from criminals, himself committed a heinous crime like rape and exploitation,” the message read and cited media reports about ‘BJP-linked influential people trying to put pressure on the doctor, in the past, to achieve their corrupt objectives’.“When people in power become the shield of criminals then from whom should one expect justice,” the message read. “We firmly stand by the doctor’s family in this fight for justice and want justice and not fear for each daughter of India,” the message posted on Sunday morning concluded. The 26 year old doctor was found dead in a hotel in Phaltan city on Thursday night (Oct 23). The police found a suicide note on her palm purportedly written by her based on which case of rape and abetment of suicide has been lodged against police sub inspector and a techie, both now under arrest.

The opposition in Maharashtra is bringing forth the written reply by the doctor to the authorities stating that she was forced by the cops from Phaltan Rural Police Station to change the post-mortem report and declared accused fit, in one such as an alleged interaction with a politician for declaring a accused fit while the accused had high blood pressure.
