The police have intensified both preventive and reformative initiatives to strengthen law and order in Sri Sathya Sai district.
Speaking to the media here on Sunday (August 31, 2025), Superintendent of Police V. Ratna, who was overseeing the Ganesh Nimajjanam arrangements in Puttaparthi, said that an intensive awareness campaign on the ‘Shakti’ app has been launched across the district.
The SP stated that the women and girls should be aware that the app was designed to provide immediate assistance to them in times of distress. “We have already covered more than 80% of the district’s habitations, and demonstrations have been conducted in the educational institutions and workplaces. Our personnel have thoroughly explained the app’s features, including its SOS button, which ensures police reach the victims within ten minutes,” Ms. Ratna said.
The SP further urged the public to extensively publicise the emergency helplines, including Dial 112 for general emergencies, 1098 for child welfare, 181 for domestic violence, 1091 for harassment, and 1930 for cyber fraud.
Meanwhile, the police on Sunday held counselling sessions for rowdy-sheeters and individuals with a criminal record across the district’s Kadiri, Dharmavaram, Puttaparthi, and Hindupur sub-divisions. The SP said that the offenders were counselled to give up unlawful behaviour and reintegrate into society, and the police would assist them in this exercise. Ms. Ratna said that if the offenders resort to criminal activities as usual, they have to face severe consequences.
