Sea of devotees join Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi procession in Barak Valley

Silchar: Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, commemorating the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, was observed with devotion and grandeur across the Barak Valley on Friday as thousands joined the traditional Julus-e-Mohammadi (peace procession).In Cachar, the massive procession turned into a sea of humanity as devotees, both on foot and on vehicles, thronged the streets since early morning. The march began around 7 am from Nagatilla point in Silchar and passed through Auliabazar and Sonabarighat before culminating at the ground adjacent to Dhanuhari Eidgah at 9.30 am.Braving the scorching sun, participants attended the concluding programme that featured milad and the final munajat (special prayers).

Along the route, local youths and voluntary organisations distributed sherbet, chocolates and snacks among the marchers.The district administration, along with volunteers of the Julus-e-Mohammadi Committee, ensured the smooth and peaceful conduct of the event with elaborate security and crowd management arrangements.The grand concluding session was conducted under the guidance of Mufti Awlad Hossain Mazumdar.

Scholars including Maulana Mahi Uddin, Maulana Qari Nazrul Islam, Maulana Sabir Hossain Choudhury, Mufti Mohammad Ullah Barbhuiya, Maulana Shahid Ahmed and Maulana Zubair Khan spoke on the significance of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi.Reports of celebrations of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi came in from the Sribhumi and Hailakandi districts as well, where devotees participated in religious processions, special prayers, and community feasts. Various mosques and madrasas were illuminated, and clerics delivered sermons highlighting the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad. Local administrations also ensured adequate security and smooth conduct of the festivities.The peaceful culmination of the procession reflected both the religious fervour and communal harmony of the region.
