Season’s coldest morning as Panaji wakes up to 17.1°C

Panaji: Residents of Panaji woke up to a sharp winter chill on Sunday morning as the city recorded a minimum temperature of 17.1°C, the lowest in Goa among all monitoring stations.

The drop marked the coldest night of the season so far, surpassing the previous low of 17.5°C recorded recently.Despite the dip in minimum temperature, the day remained warm, with the maximum temperature in Panaji reaching 32.6°C. In comparison, Mormugao recorded a higher minimum temperature of 18.2°C, while its maximum temperature was significantly lower at 30.6°C. Weather data also showed a noticeable difference in humidity levels, with Panaji recording a relative humidity of 52%, against a much higher 78% in Mormugao.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dry weather conditions are expected to prevail over Goa till Dec 27. The IMD has also forecast shallow to moderate haze or mist at isolated places during the early morning hours over the same period.Residents have been advised to remain cautious during early morning travel due to the possibility of mist or haze reducing visibility in isolated areas.
