Section of Bihar Animal Sciences University campus likely to be inaugurated this month: Senior official

Patna: As many as 14 new buildings of Bihar Animal Sciences University in Patna, completed with state-of-the-art facilities, are likely to be inaugurated this month, said Kumar Ravi, the secretary of building construction department, which has been overseeing its phased development.Various academic, administrative and residential structures on the 224.53-acre campus are being developed by utilising funds to the tune of around Rs 889 crore.Some of the important facilities that have been completed include the G+3 dairy engineering building; Livestock Farm Complex (one-storey); B+G+3 administrative block; G+1 shopping and primary health centre; animal, and feed analysis and quality control laboratories, men’s hostel for undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students, and the vice-chancellor’s residence.Ravi said the dairy engineering building includes various laboratories such as food engineering and computer labs. “The buildings on the university campus are equipped with modern technology and the latest equipment. Enhanced facilities are being developed for research and training in the dairy and animal farming sector. Facilities for research centres and training have been developed. Green building features have been considered,” the secretary said, adding instructions have been given to the engineers to complete the remaining portions promptly.

The construction work has been ongoing on some other important buildings such as the B+G+4 academic building; dairy, sheep and goat, and horse farms; faculty club (G+1); estate engineering (G+2); and girls’ hostel (G+4). Additionally, a 1,200-seat auditorium and an outdoor sports complex is being constructed.The boys’ hostel, which is already completed, will provide double-seater beds for 350 undergraduate students, single beds for 210 postgraduate and 140 PhD students. Similarly, the girls’ hostel will offer double-seater beds for 200 undergraduate students, single beds for 90 postgraduate and 60 PhD students.The guest house, which is also under construction, will include 40 single and 10 VIP rooms, besides 20 dormitory beds.
