Narcotic substances worth ₹19.8 lakh seized by the Mysuru city police were destroyed in the presence of officials at an incinerator in Gujjegowdanapura on outskirts of Mysuru on Wednesday.
A statement from the Mysuru city police said the narcotic substances had been seized by various police stations in Mysuru city under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and permitted to be destroyed by the court.
A total of 53 kg and 550 grams of ganja seized in 10 different cases of the NDPS Act and 150 grams of charas (hashish) recovered in one case were destroyed at the incinerator of Ms GIPS Bio Tech in Gujjegowdanapura village in Jayapura hobli in Mysuru Taluk.
The destruction was carried out following legal procedures without causing any environmental pollution. Chairman of the Mysuru city Drug Disposal Committee and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) K.S. Sundar Raj, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mohammed Shariff Ravuthar, and police inspector Mushtaq Pasha were present on the occasion.
