Sengottaiyan disappointed over removal from all party posts

COIMBATORE: Former minister K A Sengottaiyan, who was on Saturday removed from all party posts by AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, expressed his disappointment over the decision. Sengottaiyan said he was not given an opportunity to explain himself, which he believes contradicts the party's democratic principles.

Speaking to reporters at Gobichettipalayam in Erode district, Sengottaiyan highlighted the inconsistency between Palaniswami's public statements encouraging open dialogue within the party and the reality of his removal without consultation.Sengottaiyan emphasized that his calls for the reunification of AIADMK members who have left or been expelled had been made in the party's best interest, not for personal gain.

He reiterated his stance giving Palaniswami a ten-day ultimatum to initiate efforts to bring back estranged party leaders. He said it reflected the expectations of party workers and the public for unity.

When asked about support for him within the party, Sengottaiyan said he was receiving phone calls from people expressing solidarity. He stressed that his advocacy for reunification was aimed at strengthening the party, not for personal advantage.Sengottaiyan said only time would reveal the consequences of this decision to remove him from party posts. “I remain firm in my belief that addressing internal divisions is crucial for AIADMK's success,” he said.
