In a major step to boost rail connectivity in the Northeast, Indian Railways has announced the launch of a new weekly Rajdhani Express service between Sairang (Mizoram) and Anand Vihar Terminal (Delhi).
This marks the first Rajdhani Express for Mizoram, offering passengers a faster and more comfortable travel option to the national capital.This Rajdhani Express train has been launched after a gap of 6 years.

Inaugural run on September 13
The inaugural service of the new train, numbered 02057 Sairang–Anand Vihar Terminal Special, will commence from Sairang on September 13, 2025 (Saturday). The train will depart from Sairang at 10:00 hrs and reach Anand Vihar Terminal on September 15, 2025 (Monday) at 07:30 hrs.En route, it will halt at important stations including Bairabi, Hailakandi, Badarpur Jn., New Haflong, Hojai, Guwahati, Rangiya Jn., Barpeta Road, New Bongaigaon, New Cooch Behar, New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, Sahibganj, Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, Patna Jn., Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Jn., and Kanpur Central.
Regular weekly service from September 19
Following the inaugural run, the train will operate as Train No. 20507/20508 Sairang–Anand Vihar Terminal–Sairang Rajdhani Express on a weekly basis.
Train No. 20507 (Sairang–Anand Vihar Terminal Rajdhani Express) will leave Sairang every Friday at 16:30 hrs, reaching Anand Vihar Terminal at 10:50 hrs on Sunday.Train No. 20508 (Anand Vihar Terminal–Sairang Rajdhani Express) will depart from Anand Vihar every Sunday at 19:50 hrs and arrive at Sairang at 15:15 hrs on Tuesday.The route covers some of the busiest junctions in Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and finally Delhi, thereby connecting Mizoram more directly with northern and central India. Key stops and timings
Among the major halts are Guwahati, New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, Patna Jn., and Kanpur Central. The service is expected to significantly reduce travel time for passengers traveling between the Northeast and Delhi compared to other trains currently in operation.
Fully air-conditioned coaches
The new Rajdhani Express will feature a fully air-conditioned rake with different classes of accommodation to ensure passenger comfort. The service will include catering facilities and modern amenities, in line with the Rajdhani brand standard.
Boost to Northeast connectivity
The launch of this train is seen as a landmark moment for Mizoram’s rail network. Sairang, located close to Aizawl, is set to become a key railway hub for the state.
