Karnataka Police arrested seven individuals in connection with the murder of a 35-year-old man in Koppal district – a crime that was captured on video. The incident is reportedly linked to a long-standing property dispute and family enmity.

The arrested have been identified as Ravi, Pradeep, Manjunath, Nagaraj, Manjunath, Gautham, and Pramod.

The victim, Channappa Husenappa Narinal, a daily-wage labourer who was a resident of Tavaragera town, was killed in full public view on Saturday night around 10 pm.

A CCTV video from inside the bakery captured the moment Channappa was attacked with swords and machetes. The assailants struck his neck, head, back and limbs, killing him on the spot. The video shows how they began attacking Channappa inside the bakery, dragged him outside, and continued the assault until he was dead. According to the police, the attackers carried out the assault and fled within two minutes.

The incident occurred near LJ Iyengar Bakery close to Sindhanur Circle, less than a kilometre from the local police station, and was captured on a mobile phone. A video of the incident, which was shot by a bystander, showed a large crowd gathered at the crime scene with Chanappa lying in a pool of blood. An elderly woman is seen crying and screaming by his side.

The police filed a case against all the accused under charges of murder, criminal conspiracy, aiding a crime with common intention. The police believe the attack was premeditated, stemming from a prolonged property feud.

The complainant, Durugappa Narinal, who is the elder brother of the deceased, told the police that his family and another was embroiled in a property dispute. He also claimed that one of the prime accused, Ravi Narinal, had openly threatened to kill someone from their family in recent days.
