Seven persons, including four minors, were killed in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district on Thursday (June 5, 2025) after a truck overturned on an auto-rickshaw, police officers said. This marks the second such fatal road accident in the State in as many days.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Rewa, Vivek Lal said the incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. in the Sohagi valley area near the Uttar Pradesh border. A truck carrying cement sheets overturned after the driver lost control, collapsing onto the auto-rickshaw.

According to the district administration, the auto-rickshaw was carrying 11 passengers — residents of neighbouring Mauganj district — who were returning after taking a dip in the Ganga in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. Three of the passengers were critically injured and are currently undergoing treatment.
“A truck went out of control and overturned on an auto rickshaw at Sohagi Ghat on the Rewa-Prayagraj road in the district. In this horrific road accident, seven people died tragically and three people were seriously injured in Mauganj district,” the District Collector said in a post on social media platform X.
The deceased include four minors aged between seven and 12, two men, and a woman.
Mr. Lal confirmed that an FIR has been registered in the matter and an investigation is underway.
The District Collector further stated that Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has condoled the deaths and announced financial assistance for the victims. “The Chief Minister has immediately given instructions to sanction financial assistance of ₹2 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief and Assistance Fund to the families of the seven people who died untimely in the accident and ₹50,000 each to the three seriously injured persons,” the Collector said.
The tragedy comes a day after a similar accident in Jhabua district, where nine persons, including four minors, were killed when a cement-laden trailer truck overturned on a van carrying 11 members of a family.
