Seven new dialysis centres will be set up in Andhra Pradesh as part of the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme, says Minister for Health Satya Kumar Yadav.

At present, there are 232 dialysis centres in Andhra Pradesh. The seven new centres will come up in the Area Hospitals of S. Kota of Vizianagaram district, Bhimavaram of West Godavari district, Pileru of Chittoor district, and in the Community Health Centres (CHCs) of Seethampeta of Parvathipuram-Manyam district, Venkatagiri of Nellore district, Addanki of Bapatla district and Sunnipenta of Nandyal district.

In an official release on Tuesday, the Health Minister said each centre, having medical equipment costing around ₹75 lakh, would provide treatment to 15 people through three sessions in a day.

The S. Kota and Seethampeta centres would be functional soon, the Minister said, adding that these would be run under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.

He said the A.P. State Medical Infrastructure Development Corporation had been instructed to invite tenders to run the remaining centres too.

The Minister said the centres, being set up at the request of public representatives and people, would obviate the need for people to travel long distances to reach a hospital for treatment.

Out of the 232 existing centres, 173 were being run under the PPP model through the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust, the Minister said. The NDA government spent ₹164 crore for kidney patients in the financial year 2024-25, he added.
