The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) on Friday announced that it will take up a State-wide stir from November 1 to 4, demanding that the government immediately release long-pending fee reimbursement and scholarship dues.
The organising leaders criticised the government for its inaction and claimed that over ₹10,300 crore in arrears remain unpaid. And about 14 lakh students from SC, ST, OBC and minority groups are affected.
SFI leaders said private and government institutions were harassing students over unpaid fees and withholding certificates. They urged the government to act against such practices and release at least ₹900 crore immediately, as earlier promised, and said that ‘scholarships are not charity but a constitutional right’.
