Shahabuddin son, Osama, gets RJD ticket

PATNA: RJD has fielded former party MP Mohammad Shahabuddin’s son, Osama Shahab, from Raghunathpur assembly seat in Bihar’s Siwan. RJD ally CPI(ML), which once launched an intensive agitation in Siwan against Shahabuddin for his criminal activities, on Wednesday said the party doesn’t have any dispute with his family.

Lalu handed the poll symbol to Osama as incumbent party MLA, Hari Shankar Yadav, is reported to have offered his seat to him. Shahabuddin enjoyed cordial ties with Lalu, but bitterness crept in after the strongman’s death in 2021 as none from RJD attended his funeral. Lalu met his widow Hena in Aug last year when she reportedly requested the introduction of her son into politics.
