Chairman of the Karnataka State Temperance Board Sharanappa Saladpur has urged the Congress high command to nominate him to the Legislative Council.
He was addressing a press conference in Yadgir on Thursday.
Mr. Saladpur, who has been loyal to the party for several years, said that he was promised that he will be nominated twice in 2018 and 2023. However, he wasn’t recognised for various political reasons and then, he was made Chairman of the board on the promise that that party will make him an MLC in July.
He further said that AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge should keep the promise that was made to him.
Mr. Saladpur also said that the former Minister Sharanabasappa Darshanapur also convinced Mr. Kharge of the need for him to be nominated to the Upper House, considering his seniority and loyalty to the party.
He said that the Kuraba community, which he belongs to, will get justice if he is made MLC. He replied to a question saying that the public will see further political developments and make their decision.
