Shoot at Site: Shriya Saran shakes her leg for peppy dance number set in 90's Madurai

On the set of Non Violence, the team, led by director Ananda Krishnan, were in high spirits shooting for an elaborate dance sequence led by Shriya Saran. Joining the actress on the dance floor were the film’s protagonist, Shirish of Metro fame, and actor Adithya Kathir. Throughout the day, the trio danced to the peppy number, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and choreographed by Hari Kiran, while also finding time to sit down with us to talk about the film and the song.The film talks about an important social issue: ShriyaIt’s an interesting film talking about an important social issue and it has been shot really well. The director was an AD in Kanthaswamy . So, memories of shooting that film flashed back. It’s a lovely feeling to be associated with him again.

The song is set in ’90s Madurai: Ananda KrishnanAnanda Krishnan, who has helmed Metro and Kodiyil Oruvan , remarks, “ Non Violence is an action drama and this song, which takes place in ’90s Madurai, will be an add-on to the film. As it contains meaningful lyrics, we wanted someone like Shriya Saran, who is familiar and popular, to get the lines to reach audience.”The director shares that Shirish’s role in Non Violence will be different from the one he played in Metro and adds, “Shirish has played a challenging role convincingly in this film.”

I play the funny guy in the gangster gang: Adithya KathirAdithya Kathir, who refers to the song as a ‘colourful retro number’, says, “There will be a funny guy even in a gangster gang, and I play that character in this film. My character, Rose, is a member of the hero’s team. It was Shirish anna who told Ananda anna to get me on board for this film after seeing my performance in Kodiyil Oruvan .”

I’m happy to be reuniting with my Metro team: Shirish

The film’s protagonist, Shirish shares, “I’m happy to be reuniting with my Metro team again. Non Violence takes place in a prison. It’s a full-on commercial action film. The shoot has been proceeding very well and today, we are filming a celebration song. It’s a nice, fast number shot in a grand set.”On working with Shriya, he says, “I’ve been watching Shriya on screen for a long time, and I’m happy that I get to work with her and, moreover, dance with her.”
