Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said short films provide creative freedom to young film-makers, enabling them to experiment, think innovatively and present their stories in their own style.
The Minister, who inaugurated the Hyderabad International Short Film Festival (HISFF) 2025 along with Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, pointed out that many leading filmmakers began their careers with short films.
He said Hyderabad has today emerged as a major hub for cinema, attracting filmmakers from across India, and described HISFF 2025 as a positive beginning for Hyderabad and Telangana. He said short films continue to be a strong platform for discovering new talent.
Reiterating the State government’s commitment to the film industry, he said the Telangana government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, is extending full support to cinema. The government’s objective, he added, is to make Telangana the best State in the country for film-makers by ensuring easy permissions and improved infrastructure.
He also appreciated the participation of filmmakers from the north-eastern States, noting that stories from eight States are being showcased at the festival. “Hyderabad represents mini-India, and such festivals help bring the country closer,” he said.
Film Development Corporation (FDC) Chairman Dil Raju, FDC Managing Director CH Priyanka, festival organiser Uma Maheshwar Rao, along with film-makers and delegates from various parts of the country, were present.
