The WNBA Playoffs are underway, and the first game of Round 1 saw the Minnesota Lynx, the Atlanta Dream, the New York Liberty, and the Las Vegas Aces get ahead of their opponents. The teams will have their second face-off tonight, September 16, which might decide who moves to the Semifinals already - given this is a best-of-three series.
The Indiana Fever will host their first Playoff game at home for the first time since 2016, and star guard Caitlin Clark, who, although, is out with injury, has an important message for all the fans ahead of their home game against the Dreams.
Caitlin Clark asked Indiana Fever fans to show up for the team
Caitlin Clark has missed most of this season with a groin injury. Although many fans had hoped she could return for the Playoffs, in a heartbreaking announcement, the player revealed that would not be possible.
But that does not mean she is going to sit out while her teammates pour their blood, sweat, and tears into taking the Fever's to the next round. Clark recently shared a message for the fans in a video that was shared by the Fever's official social media channels.
"Woo! First playoff game since 2016! I need to see every single person in Indianapolis - whether you're inside the arena or could be outside the arena, I don't care - show up, get loud for my teammates! We need a dub, and then we're taking it back to Atlanta. Let's go!"
The star guard has asked everyone to show up for the team as they host their first Playoffs game at home since 2016.
She wasn't the only one, as the many from the Fever squad showed up asking fans to cheer for them in a match that is crucial in their journey this season.
Indiana Fever needs the win to continue their journey in the Playoffs
The Indiana Fever became the sixth seed at the end of the regular season and were able to clinch their spot in the Postseason. Their first match-up of Round 1 went to the Atlanta Dream, who managed to get the third seed spot, and had the home court advantage against the Fever's.
This one, though, will be played in Indianapolis, and the Fever's will look to make use of having a home crowd to cheer for them.
The Dreams won the first game 80-68 against the Fever and will look to keep their winning streak going to advance to the playoffs. If the Fever manage to win, they will travel to Atlanta for the third game of the series; otherwise, the Dreams will move on to the semifinals.
