Shyamalendu, Namrata to receive Odisha cinema’s highest honour

Bhubaneswar: Veteran actor Shyamalendu Bhattacharya and actress Namrata Das will be conferred with the prestigious Mohan Sundar Dev Goswami Award, the highest recognition in Odisha cinema, for their lifetime contribution to the film industry.

.Announcing the 36th Odisha State Film Awards for the years 2023 and 2024, odia language, literature and culture minister Suryabanshi Suraj on Thursday said the recipients would receive a cash award of Rs 5 lakh each along with citations.Among the major winners, ‘Pushkara’ and ‘My Sweet House Wife’ jointly won the best film award for 2023, while ‘Ashram’ was adjudged the best film for 2024.For 2023, comedian Harihar Mohapatra was named best actor for his performance in ‘Dho Re Babu Dho’.

Naina Das Tiwari for ‘My Sweet House Wife’ and Supriya Nayak for ‘Pushkara’ jointly won the best actress award.For 2024, Babushan has been named best actor for his performance in ‘Pawar’, and Debjani Dehuria was adjudged best actress for ‘Bhagia Bharija’.Sisir Kumar Sahu and Peenakee Singh were jointly named best directors for ‘My Sweet House Wife; in 2023 and Ashok Pati was named best director for Ashram in 2024.
