Bengaluru BJP MP Tejasvi Surya hit back at Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday after the latter referred to him as “Amavasya”, saying the Chief Minister had resorted to personal attacks unbecoming of his position.

Responding to Siddaramaiah’s comment that some BJP leaders, including “that south MP, Surya, whom I call Amavasya,” had failed to question injustice to Karnataka, Surya said the chief minister’s words “do not bring grace to his office.”

“Calling me an eclipse or full moon, I don’t understand his intention. Perhaps his association with those who look at the moon has confused his geography. His governance, however, is a solar eclipse to Karnataka,” Surya said.

The BJP MP launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, calling Siddaramaiah “incompetent” and accusing him of failing to provide even basic infrastructure. “There is not one pothole-free road in Bengaluru. He is incapable of providing even a decent 1 km road. Potholes on Bengaluru roads are ‘kamadhenu’, a never-ending money-making machine,” he said.

Surya also accused the chief minister of ignoring key issues while his ministers were “busy with betting and banning RSS.” He alleged that the state had lost investments worth $15 billion and that KSRTC and BMTC drivers were protesting over pending payments.

Listing law and order failures, Surya said, “There were three rape cases in Bengaluru last month alone, but the home minister is busy in betting.”

On Siddaramaiah’s son Yathindra’s recent remarks, Surya said it signalled “silent musical chairs” within the Congress and predicted that the current government “will not return to power.”

He further took a swipe at IT Minister Priyank Kharge, saying, “He should first provide the audit of his ministry before speaking. Is there a special ministry to ban RSS?”

Asserting that the leadership would announce the BJP’s chief ministerial candidate “at the appropriate time,” Surya said Siddaramaiah should “change his portfolio” instead of “setting deadlines that nobody takes seriously.”

“His eclipse is making Karnataka a revenue-deficit state. The Chief Minister must wake up and provide at least bare minimum governance,” Surya added.
