Siddaramaiah directs district in-charge Ministers, Secretaries to rush to rain-hit areas

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has instructed district in-charge Ministers and district in-charge Secretaries to immediately visit areas affected by heavy rain and floods across the State and oversee the relief efforts.

The Chief Minister has informed Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh to convene a meeting of all the Deputy Commissioners, chief executive officers of zilla panchayats, and district in-charge Secretaries on May 30 and 31 for a comprehensive review of the situation.

The Deputy Commissioners, zilla panchayat CEOs, and district in-charge Secretaries were ordered to maintain high alertness and vigilance and carry out relief work on a warfooting.

Nearly 170 taluks in the State have been identified as prone to floods and landslips, and 2,296 care or shelter sites will be opened in these taluks as a precautionary measure. A total of 201 locations within Bengaluru city have been identified as flood-prone, said a press statement.

The recent heavy rain has completely damaged 45 houses in the State, while 1,385 houses have been partially damaged.
