SIR finds 29,000 untraceable voters, 2,000 duplicate names

Panaji: Of the 100,000-odd voters classified as ASDD (absent shifted dead duplicate) whose names will not feature on the draft roll to be published on Dec 16, absent and untraceable voters account for around 29,000, while duplicates are 2,000.Another 40,000 voters were marked as shifted, 25,000 as dead, and another 2,000-odd as those who did not submit forms back, etc.These 1,00,000-odd names will be displayed on the CEO’s website and public offices on Dec 16, chief electoral officer Sanjay Goel said, adding that people can fill Form 6 to enrol themselves back.In addition to this, another 1,83,000 names not mapped with the last SIR of 2002 could also be deleted if people cannot produce valid documents.These names will be included in the draft roll, but they will have to respond to notices issued and provide valid documentation.“They will receive notices from the electoral registration officer (ERO) delivered by the booth level officer with the date, time, and place of the hearing. They will have to produce one of the documents listed at the back of the enumeration form,” Goel said.Ankit Yadav, collector & district election officer, North Goa district, had a meeting with the representatives of recognised political parties and handed over the list of ASDD of the North Goa assembly constituencies.The total ASDD count for North Goa is 44,637.
