He added: “Why should we eat Subway sandwiches, what's the need? If we learn to love our food, our clothing, our religious texts, and our soil, then we can make the entire world bow down."
Senior BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh’s Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said Saturday that US President Donald Trump was a “fufa (uncle)” who threatened India by imposing tariffs, and urged youngsters to “boycott McDonald’s and Pizza Hut, and switch to local food to teach America a lesson”.
Vijayvargiya was speaking at Indore Youth Parliament, hosted at a local school in Indore.
“Nowadays, if we want to eat or drink something, we feel good sitting at McDonald’s. When this Uncle Trump tries to threaten us by imposing tariffs… The youth population in India is equal to the entire population of America. If the youth decide that America needs to be taught a lesson, then we’ll have to change our preferences, we’ll have to change our likings,” Vijayvargiya said.
He urged youngsters to boycott “pizzas and burgers” and choose local alternatives.
“Instead of pizza-burgers, we’ll eat the big samosas of Rau in Indore, we’ll eat poha. Why should we go to Starbucks, why shouldn’t we drink Prafull Bhai’s tea? This isn’t about maintaining status — if we’ve decided to give America a hard time, then the youth of this country can make this white-haired Uncle Trump bow down. And this could be India’s great victory,” he said.
Vijayvargiya vouches for Indian-made pizzas made with an Indori twist. “Our restaurants make pizza so well, they add Indore’s sev to it — tell me, does McDonald’s add sev? Eat swadeshi, adopt swadeshi. This foreign threat we’ve received should make us self-reliant, self-sufficient, and if any country has the power to make the world bow down, if any country’s youth have this power, then India’s youth have it,” he said.
He added: “Why should we eat Subway sandwiches, what’s the need? If we learn to love our food, our clothing, our religious texts, and our soil, then we can make the entire world bow down.”
