Skoda Auto India and Mini India have recently introduced their latest performance machines to the Indian market, the Skoda Octavia RS and the Mini Countryman JCW. While the two aren’t direct competitors and don’t have clear rivals in the market, they do come surprisingly close when it comes to pricing.
In this article, let’s compare the Skoda Octavia RS with the Mini Countryman JCW and the Volkswagen Golf GTI.

Skoda Octavia RS vs Mini Countryman JCW vs VW Golf GTI: PricingThe Skoda Octavia RS is priced at Rs 49.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be brought to India via the CBU route. Compared to the previous RS 245, the new Octavia RS costs Rs 14 lakh more. The Volkswagen Golf GTI is also bought to India via the CBU route and is priced at Rs 52.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Mini Countryman JCW All4 is priced at Rs 64.9 lakh (ex-showroom) and this marks the launch of the first ICE-powered version of the current-generation Countryman in India.
So, the Octavia RS is the most affordable, the Golf GTI sits in the middle, and the Mini Countryman JCW is the priciest by a significant margin.

Skoda Octavia RS vs Mini Countryman JCW vs VW Golf GTI: DimensionsThe VW Golf GTI is a hatchback, the Skoda Octavia RS is a sedan, and the Mini Countryman JCW is a performance SUV. Given these body style differences, a direct comparison isn’t entirely fair. Still, let’s take a closer look at their dimensions. The Skoda Octavia RS is powered by the same engine as the Golf GTI.
It gets an ‘EA888’ 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which puts out 265hp and 370Nm, and is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic that sends power to the front wheels only. Skoda claims that the Octavia RS sprints from 0-100 kph in 6.4 seconds and can reach a top speed of 250 kph. It also comes with a sports exhaust system included as standard.

The Mini Countryman JCW is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 300 hp and 400 Nm of torque. It comes paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. It also gets adaptive suspension.
