The Cubbon Park police detained popular social media influence Younes Zarou after he visited Church Street in Bengaluru amidst a huge gathering, allegedly without due permission, on July 30.

Zarou, who has over 2.1 crore followers, had announced on his social media account — “church street we are coming “ — leading to a huge turnout of people.

Police rushed to the spot and took him away. They advised him not to initiate any social media campaign which could trigger concerns about public safety.

He later put out a post: “I survived I am fine .. Bengaluru is not for beginners ..thanks to police chief without him i think I would be somewhere else now”.

On February 9, Cubbon Park police had stopped an impromptu performance by British musician Ed Sheeran on Church Street without permission.
