Somanahalli Nagaraj was elected as the president of Hassan District Cooperative Central Bank for the third consecutive term on Friday, while Shekharappa of Arasikere was elected as the vice-president.

Both were elected unopposed. There were no other nomination papers which would necessitate an election process. Hassan Assistant Commissioner J.B. Maruthi, who was the returning officer, declared the result.

Mr. Nagaraj thanked former Minister and JD(S) leader H.D. Revanna, legislators C.N. Balakrishna, Swaroop Prakash, Suraj Revanna, and the directors for his election.

Mr. Nagaraj said that the position he had been elected to was not a bed of roses. ”Earlier, the bank used to get financial support from the NABARD. Now, the benefit had been reduced substantially. “It is a tough challenge to handle the affairs. The directors have reposed their faith by re-electing me to the post unopposed,” he said.
