Somanna holds review meeting in Hassan

Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V. Somanna on Friday held a meeting to review the progress of railway projects in Hassan district.

Officials of South Western Railway, district administration, and legislators reviewed the electrification of the Hassan-Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya section. The electrification on the section was almost over, except for the 32-km stretch connecting Sakleshpur and Shirabagilu.

MLA for Shravanabelgola C.N. Balakrishna requested stoppage of the Hassan-Solapur train at Channarayapatna, and sought development of infrastructure facilities at the Shravanabelgola railway station.

Mr. Somanna instructed the Hassan district administration to speed up the process to acquire land for the construction of a railway line between Belur and Hassan. He said the Ministry would eliminate all level crossings across the country systematically within the next two years.

Lok Sabha member Shreyas M. Patel, legislators Cement Manju and H.K. Suresh, Divisional Railway Manager Mudit Mittal and others were present at the meeting.
