'Sonam behaved well, used to hug me. How could I doubt her intentions?': Raja Raghuvanshi's mother seeks death penalty for guilty

NEW DELHI: Following the arrest of Sonam Raghuvanshi, the wife of late Raja Raghuvanshi, near a dhaba on the Varanasi-Ghazipur main road in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, the family of late Raja Raghuvanshi has demanded a detailed investigation into the case.Speaking to the media, Raja’s mother, Uma Raghuvanshi, said, "If Sonam is involved, she should be hanged.""I want the three men caught to be interrogated," she added.

Uma recalled that Sonam had always shown warmth and affection towards her and expressed hope that the police would not accuse her daughter-in-law without solid proof.“They (police) did not tell even in the morning that Sonam was found. A CBI investigation should happen.

If Sonam has not done anything, why would she be accused? Sonam had good behaviour; she used to hug me,” Uma said.Speaking about one of the accused, Raj Kushwaha, Uma told reporters,“I did not know about Raj Kushwaha, Sonam's parents may know about him. Our children never hide anything from their parents and can never do wrong to anyone.”She said that Sonam had arranged the trip and may have planned the extension to Shillong.

“Sonam booked the tickets for the trip, and she may have extended the trip to Shillong, as my son did not know about the region. Her mother told that they visited (Shillong) last year." Uma also recalled feeling uneasy when Raja told her about wearing a chain that Sonam had asked him to wear.“I asked Raja why he wears the chain, he said Sonam asked him so. I sensed danger. There might be some planning. Her behaviour was good; I cannot believe how she did something like this.”Raja’s brother, Sachin Raghuvanshi, also expressed gratitude to the authorities for tracing Sonam and stated that the truth will come out soon. “Sonam herself will reveal what happened. I thank Meghalaya Police and the CM for their investigation and help. Police will reveal everything. If she is found involved, then we will demand strict action,” he told ANI.
